Today most Sogeti people left for home. Lynn and I stayed an extra to day to see more of the city. If you travel 4,000 miles to get to a place, you should know it well when you leave, right?

Our travels today took us through the heart of the city for a quick lunch stop at Cafe de l’Europe. Vienna sausage with Chips is awesome. After lunch we took a taxi out to the Schobrunn Palace. This was home to Marie Antoinette’s parents, Franz Joseph and Maria Theresa. The Palace was spectacular. It explains a lot about why the Palace at Versailles in France is so spectacular. Marie Antoinette had to out do her mom!

After our visit to the Palace, we traveled over to the “Christmas Market“. The market just opened this weekend. It felt like the “Taste of Cincinnati”; the people were packed in everywhere. It was hard to just walk. Every ten feet what another shop selling hand crafted knick-knacks. While we really enjoyed the event, it was a bit nerve racking. After an hour, we decided drinks were in order. So, we retired to the hotel bar for a light dinner.

The trip home starts at 11:00pm eastern time.

Today we took a cooking class. The day started with a short walking tour to the market. This is a fabulous place with everything you could possibly need to make a complete meal. From the market, we took a bus to a local restaurant run by two young men, Karl and Leo. They did an excellent job teaching us how to make Wiener Schnitzel, Apple Strudel, Potato Salad and other dishes.

Of course after cooking all this fine food, we got to enjoy the food. Lynn and I then took a short walk through the shopping area before returning to the hotel for our grand ball this evening.

Our flight was very long. We left Wednesday at 1:30pm and arrived in Vienna at 9:35am on Thursday. That’s over 14 hours of travel when you take out the time change. Of course, we immediately took a nap. There was a nice dinner in the hotel on Thursday night.

Friday morning we all headed out to our daily activities. Lynn and I chose a walking tour with a visit to the Spanish Riding School. Vienna is a beautiful city. The architecture is awesome. The people are very friendly and most speak excellent English.

On Friday night, we had a nice dinner under an enormous Ferris wheel. There was a band for dancing and we got to ride in the wheel too.

Bob got the honor of being invited to Sogeti’s global 110% club. This bi-annual event recognizes Sogeti employees (and a guest) who deliver above expectations to customers. This year the trip is to Vienna, Austria.

This is a five star trip including the Hotel Imperial Vienna. We were able to choose daily activities like Segway tours, old car tours through the woods or cooking classes.

Only 12 couples came from the US. Mostly these are senior managers and executives. We are to be hosted by Luc-Francois Salvador, Sogeti’s global CEO.
