For Bob’s work, we went to to Pebble Beach for a couple days. While in California, we drove to Yosemite National Park. It was extra-special because Ken and Vicki Larson were able to join us. They had never been West of the Mississippi.
We all flew into San Francisco together and stayed there for a couple days to tour the city. Due to the cold weather and fierce winds, we missed out on the boat tours. But, we did take a very long, cold ride on a tour bus. And, we did the other big tourist things like Golden Gate Bridge, Cable Cars, Fisherman’s Wharf, etc.
Our drive down to Carmel was unique because California fires had cut power to many of the cities. Luckily, we found a little place on the ocean with a generator. We stopped at some beaches too.
One highlight of the trip was staying at Spanish Bay Resort. It was amazing! Our room has a view of the ocean. Bob played golf and worked. The rest drove around 17-mile drive and down to Big Sur.
The drive to Yosemite is about three hours. Not much to see along the way other than farms. Yosemite is spectacular. Our hotel we very rustic but nice. The tour of Half-Dome, El Capitan and the Giant Sequoia’s are unforgettable.
