What a great trip!!
The Hotel del Coronado is amazing. A excellent place for a wedding. It has so much history and is located in such an great location. It’s right on the Pacific Ocean, the weather is spectacular and it’s only a short drive to San Diego. When we first arrived, we had lunch with Mom and Dad at the Beach Grill of “The Del”. The city of Coronado is tiny but very cool too. We walked around much of the town. Our favorite was the Sock Store. The picture below is just a small part of the store. Of course, Bob and Lynn found time to exercise too.
The Wedding was very special. Mary and Paul know how to throw a party. The family had a short photo session. We then moved to the “Vista Walk” where they held the ceremony. The Rabbi did a spectacular job of mixing together a Jewish and Christian service that made everyone very comfortable and kept a very religious feel. As I watched the service, I couldn’t help take in the whole view from The Del, to the Ocean, to the service. It was very special.
The reception was just as cool. The band made sure everyone felt welcome. Many of the guests joined the band on stage to sing along with their favorite tunes. I think everyone danced most of the night.
On Sunday afternoon, we went for a Sunset Sailboat ride with Mike, Marie, Mom and Dad. The thirty foot sailboat was very cool. It was very clean. There was a nice kitchen below with snacks and drinks. The captain was very helpful in sharing information about the area. We headed straight out to the Ocean. The first hour was wonderful. Unfortunately, the waves were more than Dad could handle and he got very sick. In spite of that, the views were excellent and we (most of us) had a great time.
On Monday, we took a bike ride through La Jolla. We rode from the beach all the way up to Mount Soledad Memorial Park. The ride up was easy because the bikes are electric and it required very little effort. Lynn and I have taken bike rides in many of the cities we’ve visited and enjoyed them all but this was very unique because of the ocean views and the electric bikes. We don’t have pictures of the houses, but they were absolutely amazing too. They cost a fortune and it shows.
Great Trip. Thank you Mary and Paul!
