The first event for our trip is the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. When we arrived and talked about going all the way to the Lake, a person nearby heard us. The first question was “you brought water, right? The trip is four miles each way”.
We climbed to the top and another passerby asks “how many times have you climbed the dunes?” Turns out he was a retired National Park employee and he’d climbed them hundreds of times. So I asked “how far to Lake Michigan?” He said 1.5 miles each way. Cool! We can do that.
Half way to the Lake, we found a sign post. Of course it says 1/2 miles to the Lake and 1.5 miles to the parking lot. That’s 2 miles right? So just how far is it?!!
After the dune climb (and massive walk to the shore) we spent some well deserved time at the pool.
